Zenkit To Do: Desktop Apps and 3 New Add-Ons
The first new features of many to come
Zenkit To Do has been out in the world for less than a week, and the amount of positive feedback we’ve received from you (both long time Zenkit users, and users we’ve welcomed in the last few days) has been overwhelming and so, so wonderful. We could not have wished for a better first week!
If you’ve been in touch to share your feedback, feature requests, bug reports, criticism, or just some love for the team – THANK YOU! 🙌❤🙏 We’re reading every message you send, and trying our best to respond as soon as we can.
Through all of your feedback, one request shone through as something that many of you want, nay, need:
Desktop Apps (for everyone)
You asked for it, so we made it happen. Apps to use on your OS of choice were the most highly requested ‘feature’ of the week, so…
Desktop apps for macOS, Windows, and Linux are all now available either as a direct download, or from the App Store and Snap Store (Microsoft Store coming very soon!).
You can find them here: https://zenkit.com/todo/platforms
There’s a handy shortcut you can use to make adding tasks to your To Do list super quick and easy:
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Space: quick-add a new item to any list you choose
There will be more info on all of this in our To Do knowledge base (also coming soon).
List Add-Ons (for Plus plan users)
There are several features we’ve planned to implement in the first few weeks after the release and the first three are already here in the form of list add-ons.
Add-ons are optional features that you can toggle on and off on a list by list basis. You can access them by opening your list, then tapping or clicking on the list name.
The three we’ve added today are available to all users with a Plus subscription or higher.
List Backgrounds
List backgrounds enable you to give each of your lists a separate identity by choosing a different theme for each. Just like the main theme, each list theme can be dark or light, solid or transparent, and the toggles will show the appropriate backgrounds for each.
As a Plus subscriber, you’ll also be able to upload any background you choose!
Email to List
Turn any email into a task by adding the ‘Email to List’ add-on! This add-on generates a unique email address for your list that you can then save in your email address book to quickly forward emails to Zenkit To Do.
You can also optionally assign a user to the newly created task through a unique email address, too. To do this, simply click on ‘Show more examples’ in the Email to List settings, and copy the address next to “Assigned to User”.
iCal Subscription
Send tasks with due dates on your lists to any calendar app you use! The iCalendar subscription add-on generates a unique URL for your list, and any task with a due date is automatically added to any calendar you add the link to.
You can learn a bit more about how this works in our Zenkit Base documentation here. To note: due to the simplicity of To Do, you won’t need to add filters or pick date fields in the To Do iCalendar Subscription add-on 😉
Thank you all once again for your wonderful response to To Do! 🙏 We’re excited to keep making it better and better.
Cheers,
Siobhan and the Zenkit Team

I have been using this since mid-April of 2020, and I absolutely love it, but there is one thing that would be really helpful, the ability to prioritize tasks. Maybe different colored stars that could be used to set importance? Other than that this is a killer app thank you, thank you. A former Wunderlist orphan.
Luisa
Hi! First things first. A huge thank you to all of you for bringing us a spectacular app !!! I was a Wunderlist user for many years and was orphaned after MS bought the app. Basic and crucial functions like “email notifications” have disappeared. I spent the last month looking for a replacement. Trust me when I say I tested the “top 10” and none came close to the Wunderlist. That said, looking for the internet I stumbled on Zenkit. Good God! Everything and more that I wanted is here! Really enjoying the ride !! Keep up the good work! Just a suggestion: in the Windows desktop application, make it minimize to the tray! Sincerely, Edson (Just an IT guy)
Thank you so much Edson, I’m so glad to hear you enjoy using Zenkit To Do 🙂 I’ve forwarded your compliments on to the rest of our team – we love to hear your positive experiences! I’ve created a feature request for the desktop app minimization. That said, if there’s ever anything you think would improve To Do, or that’s causing problems, don’t hesitate to get in touch- service@zenkit.com will be happy to help 🙂
Hi Siobhan,
so far I am incredibly happy with my new favorite todo list, actually the free version is so good, I don’t see the advantage of the subscription, you should add some nice “plus” features in the future to convince me 😉
Is there a user forum or a place to add feature requests?
I am not missing much but there are a few minor things that would make zenkit todo even better…
thanks Manfred
Hi Manfred, very happy that you like Zenkit. We are always thankful for feedback and suggestions from our users to make Zenkit even better. Please send your suggestions via mail to our support team (service@zenkit.com).
Hi there,
love the product, especially the smooth interface. Can you tell more about coming features, for example tags?
Hi Martijn, very happy to hear that:): Thanks for your kind feedback. In this collection https://public.zenkit.com/collections/BlZOqywun/views/i53XOILPJr?hide=workspaceLists you can check out our upcoming updates. Best, Maja.
Hi,
Is it not possible to have the task title right at the top next to the’ X’ exactly like Wunderlist. It currently seems
like so much space is wasted on that line.
Thanks
Hi Ab, I’m afraid but Zenkit To Do does currently not provide this feature. However, I’ve created a feature request ticket for it. Stay tuned;)-
Hi, I just want to thank you for the different platforms I was wondering if there will be a platform x86 version for Windows 10??
Thanks,
Hi Gus, thanks for your feedback. I’ve forwarded this question to our dev team. As soon as there are any news on this I’ll let you know:). Best, Maja
Hey Siobhan! Great work so far! I’m trying it out for the first time right now. Quick question: I imported my Wunderlist lists, but any list that has sublists were ignored. Is this typical for the app?
Thank you Peter! Hmm.. what do you mean by “sublists”? Like subtasks/checklists on tasks? Those should definitely import along with everything else. Have you gotten in touch with our support team? They may be able to help out 🙂
I don’t know how to reach your support team. I’m not a paying customer yet, I’ve only just downloaded it yesterday.
By “sublists” I mean lists that are in folders. None of my folders imported, and none of the lists in those folders. If I have lists that aren’t in folders, they imported correctly, but those were the only ones.
Never mind, I tried it a second time and it worked. thanks!
Hi, I’ve migrated over from Wunderlist and really like Zenkit thus far.
I’m wondering if you’re planning to include two features that I haven’t seen yet. One would be for starred items to automatically move to the top of individual lists, this helps with task management for me. And the other is expanding the search window so that it takes up the whole window rather than just the left toolbar.
Thanks!
Hi Emi, thank you so much for your feedback. I’ve created a feature request ticket for both of your suggestions and will forward it to our dev team. Best, Maja
Wow. I’m so happy to find Zenkit To Do after loving Wunderlist for so long. Great job. Really great ios app and web functions. I would also like to ask for the ability to not include finished items. Very annoying and distracting to see them. But perhaps you’re already working on this. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this long-awaited alternative to Wunderlist.
Hey J Walters, thanks for your kind feedback. So happy that you like our new app. If you want to hide finished items, please click “Done” below your list and then “hidden”. Hope that helps:).
Brilliant. Thanks for the desktop apps. I came from Wunderlist yesterday and these were the main things missing as I saw it (could also do with being able to ‘star’ a task as a one-step process). But your to-do has saved my GTD system from dying by Microsoft (even if I have to pay to get key email feature).
Thanks so much John! We’re glad you like it 😊 Yes, starring is two steps for now (either swipe left on the task and tap star, or open the task to star it), but we’ll see if we can improve that process in the near future!
Also, please add sorting by priority (i.e., first all starred items, then all non-starred items), as you could in Wunderlist. Thanks!
It’s coming, Stefan!
Great Job….how long have you been working on this? MS still hasn’t got Wunderlist figured out after 5 years.
I would like some control over printing or emailing lists.
1. Ability to not include finished items.
2. Ability to choose which fields to send… ie: subtasks, comments, notes, etc.
Hi Bob,
We’ve been at it since January 😅 Thank you for your requests! I’ve forwarded them along to our dev team so hopefully you’ll see some improvements there soon!
I just installed the ZENIT Todo for Mac app and I can’t seem to print a list from it. I can print a list from the Web Version /
Hi Reg,
Thanks for getting in touch! Do you mind sending a quick email to service@zenkit.com so our team can help you out?
Okay, danke euch!
Hey, to-do sieht top aus! Gibt es schon ein Android widget, mit dem man eine Liste direkt auf dem Screen anzeigen kann? Vg u danke Christopher
Hi Christoper.
Maja

Thanks for letting us know! This has been fixed 👍
Ich nutze einen Plus-Plan in Zenkit-Base. To-Do sagt mir ich hätte einen Kostenlos-Plan. Ist das so OK?
Gruß
Mathias
Hallo Mathias, ja das ist ok! So sollte es sein 🙂
Hi,
looking for having a widget on android to be perfect …
thank you
